Chapter Leadership Summit

Every Chapter & Lodge Leader Trained in 2014!

 

 

Date: October 24-25, 2014

Online registration closes: October 17, 2014

Time: 8:00 PM- 9:00 PM Check-in; Sessions begin at 9:00 PM Friday. Sessions will run until 4:00 PM Saturday

 

Cost: $15.00 includes all meals, materials and patch

Participants should bring a tent and sleeping gear, a laptop computer if they have one and be prepared to wear their scout uniform with sash. If you have a wifi hotspot you will need it. CPAP users bring a long extension cord or a battery set up.

Open to all arrowmen, the focus will be on chapter chiefs, vice-chiefs, advisers and will now feature special training for OA Troop Representatives, OA Assistant Scoutmasters. We will now feature a Trainer Development Program (a Train the Trainer) to support lodges efforts to help trainers to become better and to assist chapters back home. Lodge level Vice-Chiefs, committee chairs and advisers are also welcomed and encouraged to take part in this new program.

Participants can sign up for:

A) Year 1 Program (to include all chapter level leaders, OA Troop Representatives and OA Assistant Scoutmasters)

 

OR

 

B) Trainer Development Program (to include anyone who has taken CLS before, all  Lodge level vice-chiefs or lodge level committee chairpersons, and or advisers and chapter advisers).

Program Emphasis: Chapter Chief and Chapter Adviser Training. Designed to assist a chapter chief  or adviser to develop skills needed to be a successful chapter leader. Breakout sessions for youth and adults will be offered as well as joint chapter planning time. There will also be a program for 2 term chapter chiefs and advisers- a more advanced course that helps build chapter program continuation and retention.

 

Training Staff: Will be made up of the best trainers youth and adult all over the state and nation.

 

     Special guest trainers this year will be:

 Brad Torpey, Southern Region Chief
               

 

     Staff Leaders: Dustin Cocklereece, Chairman and Travis Gentry, Adviser.

 

Special Features: The program will feature the best available hands-on training and will help focus the chapter leadership on the things that matter most to your chapter.

Limit: 100 participants, first come, first served

 

What to Bring: Tent, Sleeping bag, personal gear, toiletries, rain gear, hiking boots, Class A uniform with sash, pencil and notepad- laptop or web browsing devise.If you have a Verizon hotspot please bring this with you or borrow one- the access is limited in this camp.

 

Camping Facilities: Parking is centralized, but the campsites are adjacent to the parking lot. Campsites are near a hot water shower and nearby to the training facility. The training will take place at a first class training facility, a comfortable venue suitable for youth and adults with classroom space and large open areas. Come enjoy the weekend. Electricity will be available in the campsite for those who need it for medical conditions, please ask at registration about these accommodations.

Directions to Camp Bowers

 

FROM I-95 SOUTH

 Travel I-95 South until you reach Exit 49, get off at this exit, and turn onto NC 53 East.  Travel 17.6 miles to Camp Bowers on your right.  You will see a road sign announcing the entrance just before reaching it.

 

FROM I-95 NORTH

 Same as for I-95 South.  However, you it is shorter traveling a route through Lumberton on back roads to camp.

 

FROM US 74 EAST AND WEST

 Travel US74 until you reach I-95 near Lumberton.  Enter I-95 (this will be Exit 14), and travel 6 miles until you reach Exit 20.  Get off at Exit 20, turn right onto Roberts Avenue (NC 211), Travel 1.7 miles (7 stop lights after turning) until you reach Elizabethtown Road.  You will pass the Nissan dealership and an Italian restaurant called Zeno’s just before reaching this intersection.  Get in the left turn lane, turn left onto Elizabethtown Road (NC 41) and travel 4.3 miles to Tar Heel Road.  Look for Littlefield Middle School on your right just before reaching Tar Heel Road.  Turn left on Tar Heel Road and travel 9.2 miles to the town of Tar Heel.  At the intersection of Tar Heel Road and NC 87, continue straight for 1.6 miles, crossing the steel bridge over the Cape Fear River, to the next intersection at River Road.  Turn right on River Road and travel 4.4 miles to NC 53.  Turn left on NC 53 and Camp Bowers is 2.9 miles on your left.

 

FROM NC 211 WEST

 Travel into Lumberton on NC 211 until it becomes Roberts Avenue, cross I-95 at Exit 20, and follow the same directions as above.
